David Dunn is the protagonist of the film Unbreakable (2000). He is portrayed by Bruce Willis.
Dunn was born in Philadelphia, presumably in the 1960's. As a child, he nearly drowned in the elementary school swimming pool and miraculously survived, which gave him a phobia of water and is a tale that even in his 30's or early 40's, this story still goes around the same school as an urban legend.
In college, Dunn was a star football player, and while there he met his future wife Audrey. However, the two were in a near-fatal car accident in which Audrey was injured and David miraculously did not have a single scratch on him; he was even strong enough to rip the passenger car door off to pull Audrey out before the car was set ablaze, and then got help from a passing by truck driver. David used this as an excuse to quit his football career because Audrey didn't like him playing as it was too violent for her. The two married in 1988 and about a year or two later, they had a son named Joseph.
